“It’s beginning to feel a bit like Christmas”

For many of us in the food sector, it is easy to potentially not enjoy Christmas as much as others as we are immersed in it for much of the year

In my case since last January, when we first started planning the range, in my team’s case since May when they first started selling the range and in retailer’s case since August when they first started re-arranging their stores to make room for the extra stock! Hopefully this last week this year will be slightly less stressful for retailers as it is a full, normal week and shopping may be more spread out during the week, rather than the last-minute rush. Here’s hoping!

One way or the other, we will finally have time to relax, spend time with our families and have some “me” time. Inevitably we will also have time to reflect on the last year and plan a little for 2017. It really has been one of the strangest years I can remember. Dominated by Brexit, and finished by growing industrial unrest with no less than 4 strikes the week before Christmas, it will be one many of us want to forget! For us, moving office and warehouse and running a record total of 28 different events, there has been no rest whatsoever, so I am looking forward to a rest before the madness starts again.

Here’s to a tremendous 2017 – I am keeping it short this week as you should all be too busy to read this! Have a lovely Christmas, full of peace and love, and see you in 2017.

Generosity from leaders makes business better in all aspects, yet few businesses have discovered the benefits that accompany being generous of spirit.
  • We are now retailers too!

So, the week has arrived at last when I become a retailer as well as a wholesaler. What a journey it has been.
  • We need leaders, not managers

I’ve mentioned before that not many people can give me the name of someone when asked at interview who has inspired them most from their previous work life. This is because most people have only experienced management not leadership.
