Džiugas Does Lactose-Free

Suitable for vegetarians and consumers with lactose intolerances, Lithuanian best-seller Džiugas qualifies as a lactose-free product because of the way it is made and the maturities at which it is sold (12, 18, 24, 36 months); these products will be on the Džiugas stand at the show.

Recent Mintel research has shown that customers who follow lactose-free diets will pay a premium for the right product, which offers an opportunity for retailers to generate profitable sales; Džiugas is dedicated to not compromising on taste in order to achieve free-from status, and has recently received its second three star rating from the international judging panel of the Superior Taste Awards.

Bobbi Davy, Džiugas spokesperson said, “Besides the growing interest in Eastern European and Baltic cheese, Džiugas is also benefitting from the increased interest in lactose-free products. Market forecasts show that the demand in this area is going increase 75% between 2012 and 2016 reaching €529M by the end of this period.”
