Farm Shop Bucks The Trend With New Outlet

A well-established Norfolk farm shop is expanding to open a new branch later this spring
The new enterprise will stock an extensive selection of locally-produced meat, fish, grocery and deli products. There will also be a kitchen, so the new shop can offer the same home-cooked food that has proven popular at the Walsingham branch.
“We're already in talks with our producers about all the exciting new lines we can offer. We're also hoping to integrate the farm's lavender in a range of products,” said Elizabeth Meath Baker, a partner at the business. “We only opened in 2006, but we already feel like part of the community. The new store is located in a more densely populated area, so hopefully it will be even bigger and better,” she said.
The farm shop hadn't considered expansion until Norfolk Lavender's owners emphasised what a fruitful enterprise it could become. “Opening a new store certainly wasn't a priority, but the idea developed when the farm's owners personally picked us out as the business they wanted on their land,” she explained.
According to Walsingham Farms Shop's research, over 1,000 cars go past the lavender farm every hour. “It's a busy tourist destination all year round. We already have 50 coach parties booked-in for the coming months and we hope to attract even more passing trade over the summer,” she added.
The business is looking to recruit a senior butcher, trainee butcher, restaurant chef, farm shop cook, fishmonger, shop floor supervisor and assistant, and a deli assistant.
