Hawkshead Relish based in Hawkshead, the Lake District produces handmade preserves which are renowned in the speciality food and artisan arena.
From starting the business only ten years ago, Mark and Maria have been adamant in their approach of using the finest locally sourced ingredients and developing the business within the local community. It is therefore fitting that the Honours are for `Services to Food Industry in Cumbria’.
The company lead by the husband and wife team have demonstrated an outstanding passion and determination for promoting the county within their own marketing aims with the Hawkshead Relish Shop now being a destination for food loving visitors.
Mark Whitehead commented, “We have such great produce and producers here in Cumbria and this award reflects just a small part of that family and one that we will continue to champion.”
The business has expressed an overwhelming passion for its products and the locality it resides and has been fervent in its determination to withstand the economic downturn with continued growth. The award winning range is supplied nationally and now internationally to 22 countries spanning four continents.
Maria Whitehead adds, “It is such a huge honour for a small business such as Hawkshead Relish to be recognised and we feel both humbled and thrilled that this honour recognises the hard work and dedication of the whole team here in Hawkshead’.
