Judges Name FS&D Britain’s Retailer of the Year

Arthur Howell, located in Wells-next-the-Sea, was commended for its product knowledge, customer service and community spirit.

Arthur Howell, 2016 Retailer of the Year winner said, “We’re totally surprised to have won and are going to be very proud of this achievement for a long time to come. With everything we do, we promote the story behind the meat and try the very best we can to do everything ourselves with a heavy emphasis on local.We offer a very personal service and make a point of promoting the fellow independent businesses on our street - this creates a unique community feel which I believe sets us apart.”

The judging panel, made up of experts from fine food, speciality retail and food media, including Ross Gilfillan, editor of Speciality Food, Giles Henschel, co-founder and CEO of Olives Et Al and Jon May, managing director of Fabulous Food & Drink, were looking for independent retailers demonstrating the highest levels of service, initiative, innovation, product knowledge and community involvement.
