  • A new Dorset-based food company is launching its range of premium snacks into independent stores this week

Mr Filbert’s creates a selection of nuts and seeds, blended with a variety of traditional and more unusual ingredients. Each recipe is produced by air-roasting the nuts and seeds and tossing them with various flavours – many of which are locally sourced. Added ingredients include chillies from a farm in South Devon, Dorset wild garlic and locally-churned butter. The company also produces a line of luxury dressings.

“What we want to emphasise is our inventiveness – we specialise in taking classic recipes and giving them a new twist. Take our honey and mustard dressing for example. We are using local Dorset honey and English mustard, but have also used local gooseberries to give it a real tartness,” said Mark Taylor, managing director.

Different snack products on offer include Pomodoro Peanuts, made with plum tomatoes, basil and Parmesan; Kasbah Almonds, made from fresh wild garlic, chilli, honey, mint and harissa, and Tumble Roasted Cashews, made by combining cashews with toasted sunflower seeds, sea salt and pumpkin seeds. All varieties are also free from artificial colours, flavours and additives.
