  • Retail buyers and fine food distributors are invited to attend Showcasing Scotland, taking place from 6th-9th October at Perthshire's Gleneagles Hotel

The event, held by Scotland Food & Drink, will allow buyers to meet food and drink producers from across Scotland and learn more about the high quality businesses which help give Scotland its reputation as a Land of Food and Drink.

Over 100 Scottish businesses will be showcasing their food and drink products, including dairy, meat, bakery, premium grocery, seafood and drinks, and the full programme of events includes a drinks reception, gala dinner and sector visits.

James Withers, chief executive of Scotland Food & Drink said, “Showcasing Scotland is a unique event which highlights what makes Scotland a Land of Food and Drink- a diverse larder of premium products offering strong Scottish provenance.

“Scotland Food & Drink is working in partnership with industry and the public sector to create valuable connections between Scottish companies and buyers. With provenance becoming of increasing importance to consumers, I’d encourage buyers to register for the opportunity to meet a wide range of relevant Scottish food and drink producers as well as learning more about what our industry has to offer. I believe it will be the most important trade event for the Scottish food and drink industry in Scotland this year.”

Alastair Clark, managing director of Clarks Speciality Foods said of 2014’s event, “The Showcasing Scotland event gave us the opportunity to meet with dozens and dozens of interesting producers from large companies to small artisan outfits.

“It offered a fantastic opportunity for networking and was a much better setting for building relationships and making important business links than attending busy exhibitions, which is how we would normally engage with potential suppliers.

“The event was very well organised and allowed us to secure business with some really dynamic suppliers as well as build relationships with other buyers. We’re looking forward to attending this year’s event at Gleneagles to see what other interesting suppliers Scotland has to offer.”

Buyers from across the UK and beyond are being invited to sample Scotland’s top quality food and drink and meet with some of the country’s most dynamic producers at an upcoming Showcasing Scotland industry event continuing the success of the inaugural event in 2014 which saw participating companies forecast £20 million of additional sales.
