Vini d’Italia Wine Guide Celebrates 30th Birthday at London Event

Gambero Rosso, the Italian wine and food publisher that produces the Vini d’Italia guide, has collaborated with The Italian Chamber of Commerce to bring 50 Italian wine producers on its Tre Bicchieri Tour, which stops at the Church House Conference Centre in Westminster, London on 4th May.

Trade and press professionals are invited to meet the wine producers and attend two exclusive masterclasses showcasing the wines brought to the show.

At the event, Gambero Rosso has also joined forces with pasta company Barilla to create a variety of dishes to pair with selected Italian wines.

Over 60 experts sampled 45,000 wines, reviewing 22,000 labels from over 2,400 wineries, over the last year in order to curate Vini d’Italia 2017.

This year saw 429 Tre Bicchieri winners, which were selected using the traditional method of blind tasting, panel evaluations, and a Three Glass Rating system. Nearly a quarter of the 429 selected are available to buy in Italy for less than €15, representing Italian wine’s value for money.

This event also sees 80 Green Tre Bicchieri wines being showcased, which are produced by means of organic or biodynamic viticulture.

Verena Caris, deputy secretary general of The Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK said, “We believe that UK independent wine shop owners and buyers should attend the event as it represents a unique opportunity to taste some of the best Italian wines. The 50 exhibiting wineries at the Tre Bicchieri Tour have all won the Tre Bicchieri award and are therefore prominent in Gambero Rosso’s guide which reviews 2,400 wineries and a total of 22,000 wines. During the day, UK trade and press professionals will be able to meet in person the Italian producers and attend two exclusive masterclasses dedicated to the wines on show.”
