The cheese is a soft blue cheese, and combines a mushroomy rind with a creamy golden edge and a springy white centre.

One judge described the cheese as “oozing out of the packaging in a sexy way. Very individualistic and unlike any other cheese. Wonderfully mottled with a Dolce Gorgonzola centre.

“Even those sworn against blue cheese would find this hard to resist – unbelievably moreish!”

Ceri Cryer, director of Brinkworth Dairy said, “We were thrilled to be awarded Best of Cheese Taste of the West Awards, 2014. Dad screamed and leaped out of his seat and it was commented that the award for best reaction to winning a prize should go to Brinkworth Dairy as well.

“I look forward to incorporating the beautiful Taste of the West award logo into our labels. The Royal Bassett Blue is a brilliant cheese, and as our newest cheese, we had been waiting for it to start picking up the accolades it truly deserves.

“Winning the Award has led directly to new sales. We are proud to be selling in Town Mill Cheesemonger, Lyme Regis. Town Mill Cheesemonger was the winner of Best South West Specialist Retailer/ Deli.”
