Building on the success of Suma’s 1kg catering packs of Fairtrade Organic Coffee Beans, it has just launched nine new 227g retail packs; six are ground (Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, Honduras, Sumatra
Gayo Highlands, Peru, Columbia and Swiss Water Decaffeinated) and the most popular three are also available as beans (Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, Peru and Columbia). As a workers' cooperative, Suma describes itself as having ‘a natural affinity with the principles of Fair Trade’. For over two decades it has marketed products that have directly benefited producers in the developing world and is now a licensee of the Fairtrade Foundation with over 20 products bearing its certification. These range from organic dates and organic brazils to a further range of 15 organic coffees. Wherever possible the aim is to bring products to market that are both Fair Trade and organic.
