The first English Wine Week has officially launched and will take place from Saturday 29th May – Sunday 6th June, which incorporates the Spring May Bank Holiday
This is the annual industry campaign to promote the wines and vineyards of England and is being increasingly embraced by the wine trade as an effective vehicle to highlight English wines to an ever growing and interested audience.
Over the course of the week special events, tastings, offers and other activities will take place in vineyards and within the on and off trade. Participants include Laithwaites Wine and The Wine Society alongside independent retailers located across the country.
“It’s all about creating a stir.... keeping English wines in the public’s sight, and engaging what is already a real interest,” comments Julia Trustram Eve of English Wine Producers. “English Wine Week falls at an ideal time of the year. The end of May marks the start of the tourist season, and all the anticipation of a fine summer ahead.
"By doing something to focus on English wines, retailers, the on trade, and of course the vineyards themselves, provides that opportunity for more people to get to know English wines and to help satisfy an ever increasing interest in and demand for them,” she says.
All events and activities are listed on http://www.englishwineweek.co.uk which is regularly updated as more are confirmed.
