The eighth branch of Chandos Deli has now opened in new shopping development, Cabot Circus, in Bristol.
Chandos Deli, which already has outlets in Bath, Exeter and Bristol, is owned by Iain Keith-Smith, but the Cabot Circus shop is a new step for the company, taking residence in a modern ÂŁ500m development in the Broadmead area of the city.
“Cabot Circus is in a part of the city centre that has been redeveloped. Around us you find people like Raymond Blanc, Carluccio and many high-end retailers like Apple and other big international brands, so we're flying the flag for Bristol.”
The new deli features a large retail space on the lower ground, as well as a café area upstairs. “We have a shop in a similar location in Exeter and it works very well for us,” Mr Keith-Smith adds. “We bring a lot of footfall to developments like Cabot Circus. Of course, our average spend is not as big as Apple's, but we have a lot of people coming in for our cakes and coffee.
“The rents in places like Cabot Circus aren't cheap, but you get what you pay for and there are lots of customers. It's a modern approach, but I think the landlords understand that we bring something unique to the development.”
