10 PRODUCT NEWS @specialityfood Take stock with our new food and drink round-up Just in time for Christmas, Lake District-based Hawkshead Relish has launched four new products into its condiment range. Each product is crafted in small batches and made without any artificial colourings, flavourings or preservatives. They are also gluten-free, nut-free and suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Posh Pickle Sauce brings together gherkins, dill and onions and is based on a traditional burger relish. It is designed to be served with fresh fish or barbecued meats. Spiced Mango Ketchup is a versatile and fruity new condiment, combining roasted spices with sweet mango and a slight chilli kick. Smoky Mustard Sauce combines dijon-style mustard with a slight smoky note, and is a good option for accompanying meats as well as a valuable ingredient in vinaigrettes and sauces. Hot Beetroot Ketchup is a vibrant alternative to traditional tomato ketchup, combining earthy beetroot with punchy horseradish and chilli. Serve with griddled meat or fresh fish, or add to soups for extra depth of flavour. Mark Whitehead MBE, co-owner of Hawkshead Relish said, ‘’I wanted to create a selection of sauces and ketchups that would add a real vibrancy and lift to every home cooks larder. To give everyone the opportunity to bring an extra dimension to simple home cooked dishes and add a little twist to their cooking. Hopefully, we’ve achieved that with these four really distinctive and exciting flavour combinations, which complement our existing collection of sauces and ketchups.’’ hawksheadrelish.com New line-up for Hawkshead Relish Mermaid Salt Vodka unveils fresh new look Isle of Wight Distillery has revamped its ‘savoury and adult’ sea salt- infused vodka and made it available for nationwide distribution. The 40% vodka is infused with sea salt post-distillation, creating an unusual and versatile spirit particularly useful for cocktail making as it enhances the flavours of other ingredients used. The salt is sourced from local supplier Wight Salt, having been harvested fromwater collected in the flood tide off the southern coast of the Isle of Wight. Xavier Baker, co-founder of the Isle of Wight Distillery, said, “This island is rich in amazing ingredients which we love to use – whether it’s the rock samphire and Boadicea hops in our signature gin, or the addition of local strawberries to Mermaid Pink. This, however, was the first time we ventured into the surrounding seas for an ingredient. Perfect on its own over ice or with a mixer, it also really layers on a unique savoury element for cocktails that you just can’t get with other vodkas.“ isleofwightdistillery.com LoveRaw transforms popular confection Vegan brand LoveRaw has released a vegan hazelnut creamfilled wafer bar, inspired by a leading confectionery product . The Cr&am Filled Wafer Bar contains no artificial flavours or colours, palm oil or dairy. Manav Thapar, managing director of LoveRaw said, “During a teamNPDmeeting, we asked each of our employees to choose a well-known chocolate treat that they would like to see ‘veganised’. There was a clear winner – the hazelnut cream filled wafer bar. As with all new product launches, we did have to jump through some hoops – the biggest being that the Cre&am Filled Wafer Bar had to taste like ‘chocolate chocolate’ and not compromise on flavour.” eatloveraw.com Belvoir Fruit Farms have added three new products to its retail beverage line-up.
