  • Fledgling snack producer Filbert's Fine Foods is celebrating after winning the Innovation Challenge Award at the Lunch! trade show earlier this month

The company, which only started trading in June 2010, already has its range of speciality nuts and dressings stocked in all Harvey Nicholas food halls, as well as in delicatessens and farm shops across the country. “We are delighted and proud to have won this award. We have a special food brand that is being noticed and loved by people who enjoy fine food,” said Mark Taylor, managing director of Filbert’s Fine Foods.

The Innovation Challenge is a major new awards scheme – run for the first time in collaboration with Lunch! 2010 –  designed to promote and celebrate new ideas in the food-to-go sector. Judging was carried out by a panel of five industry experts, who considered each product and decided which displayed enough innovation to provide a real point of difference and competitive advantage.

Other winners of the competition included The Phat Pasty Company for its range of Bake In Pack pasties, and the New York Delhi for its VIP Nuts.

Lunch! was held at Old Billingsgate, London, on 30th September to 1st October 2011.
