The Pickled Shop reopens after fire and Covid impact

After a devastating fire and delays caused by COVID-19, The Pickled Shop is preparing to reopen its doors later this month.

Bulwick Village Shop, also known as The Pickle Shop, will be back with a bang on 21st September. The exciting launch will reveal the shop’s reimagined deli-kitchen space, which has been created by Stamford furniture designer Matthew Cox, and incorporates marble counters, antique lighting and lovely spots for guests to enjoy freshly brewed coffee and cake.

Home to The Pickled Village’s range of pickles and preserves, the shop became known to visitors after it first opened in 2005, particularly for its year-round tastings and well-presented gifts and hampers. Following a devastating thatched roof fire in February 2019, the shop was forced to close, selling purely from its online store. But now the shop will be bigger and better, with an open-plan layout that’s wheelchair accessible, and a homely and welcoming atmosphere.

Aside from selling a range of fine and original speciality food and wine, owner Camille Ortega McLean was keen to provide everyday essentials such as bread, milk and stamps. On the deli side, customers can enjoy a selection of homemade food and afternoon tea, as well as tapas and tipples on the terrace.

Speaking about the reopening, Camille said, “My team and I can’t thank everyone enough for their support over the last 18 months – we are thrilled to be back to serve our community, and encourage visitors from all over the country to enjoy our fabulous new shop, as well as everything else the beautiful village of Bulwick has to offer.”
