Top-selling Christmas cheese with Daniel Williams, Godfrey C Williams & Son

Quicke’s Traditional Mature Cheddar - Quicke’s Traditional Ltd
We’ll usually keep a range of 4-5 traditional cheddars on the counter for Christmas, with Quicke’s always making the list. Mature and buttery, with a great depth of flavour.

Appleby’s Cheshire Cheese - Appleby’s Cheese (Whitchurch)
Our best-known local cheese is usually on our customer’s lists for Christmas. Mild, crisp and lemony - Appleby’s is the go-to archetypal, traditional example and pairs perfectly with a slab of Christmas cake on Boxing Day!

Cornish Brie - The Cornish Cheese Company Ltd
This clotted cream-texture soft cheese by the Cornish Cheese Co is a customer favourite all year round, and probably our best-value brie on the counter. Rich & creamy with a characteristic yellow, buttery colour

Colston Bassett Blue Stilton - Colston Bassett Dairy Ltd
Again, we’ll usually have 2-3 blue Stiltons on the counter for Christmas, to cater for all tastes. A milder one makes an approachable crowd-pleaser, but a richer, creamier one like Colston Bassett will always have a following.

Northern Blue - Shepherd’s Purse Cheeses Ltd
For customers that would like a blue on their Christmas cheese board, but want to look further afield than blue stilton - We often recommend Northern Blue. Strong & steely, offset by a delicious creaminess and a touch of sweetness. Won Gold at the 2021 British Cheese Awards, and also 2 stars at the 2020 Great Taste Awards.

Bowland - David Williams Cheese Ltd
Lancashire cheese with apple, raisins & cinnamon. It’s simply Christmas in a cheese! We have long-standing customers of more than 40 years that return to Bowland time and time again.
