  • A East End bakery which sells sugar-free, gluten-free, wheat-free and dairy-free snacks has opened this month

The new kind of free-from food store called ‘Happy Kitchen’ was unveiled this month in the heart of East London.

The shop was opened by foodie entrepreneurs, Lisa Stockton and Ellie Pennington, just a few doors from another of the team’s bakeries. In the new padded out arches, at 402 Mentmore Terrace in London Fields, it offers a vegan canteen/diner experience, all day.

Produce sourced from the UK is all that goes into its brownies, cookies and flapjacks as well as its soups, salads and stews.

Happy kitchen also runs cooking classes with children and adults, showing them how to prepare food using seasonal and plant-based ingredients. The classes look at how foods have got here, where they originate and the people involved in their production.
