  • Thieves forced their way into an Essex farm shop last week, causing £1000 worth of damage and stealing a charity donation box

No produce was taken, but the crooks, who were caught on CCTV breaking through a window at Blackwells Farm Produce, walked away with small change, a laptop and a brimming tin of Macmillan Cancer Support collection funds

Owner Howard Blackwell’s family have been farming in the Coggeshall area of Essex for four generations, and opened the farm shop three years ago due to popular demand. He has reported that it will cost the business £1000 to repair damage done to a door and window.

A member of staff told SF, “Unfortunately what’s done is done, we’re just trying to move on and put this behind us.”

The farm was recently featured in the ITV programme Ten Mile Menu, where two teams are tasked with cooking a three course meal only using local ingredients from within a ten mile radius.

It is also in the finals for the Best Farm In Essex competition. Police are still investigating the incident, which happened on Thursday 18th August at around midnight.
