  • To celebrate a year of service, a deli based in Poole hosted a chilli challenge for its customers

To show loyal customers that the business really was a ‘hot spot’ for fine food, the team at The Green in Poole decided to host a series of chilli-related activities for its first birthday.

The day started with a ‘Bear Grylls’ style buffet which featured venison, wasabi, vegetable grains and a selection of hot chilli sauces and crackers.

As the event continued the store conducted a chilli-eating contest where shoppers were encouraged to eat a range of super spicy snacks.

The contest proved extremely popular with adults and children alike after an 11-year-old customer tried the world’s hottest chilli sauce. Congratulations to Hector Berman who braved the hotness!

The award-winning delicatessen also pushed the sale of more unusual snacks including; piri piri stuffed olives, free-range spam and chilli hot chocolate.

The owner, Louise Regan is hoping the event will encourage future purchases of hot products.
