Deli Owner Shares Trade Secrets

  • A successful deli owner is setting up an academy designed to train business aspirants

After 25 years of experience Iain Hemming, owner of Thyme & Tides in Hampshire, wants to share with deli hopefuls the tricks of the trade by offering tutorials in his own shop.

Even though lots of people dream of opening a deli, many fail to stay open especially in the current economical climate.

Iain explains, “Owning a deli can be a very expensive dream, and the idea of the Thyme & Tides academy is to give people the chance to discover what running a shop is really like.

“I want people to avoid making expensive mistakes right from the beginning. This course is not about certificates and theory-based learning, it’s about practical experiences.”

Combining a number of skills including PR management, running a loyalty card scheme and how to secure a ‘hot’ client list, Iain is convinced that training is essential in today’s marketplace. “I haven’t got a Mary Portas budget which enables me to help near-closure businesses, instead I am focusing on helping those looking to start a business before they commit their life savings.

“I want to give a more refined vision of what our industry is all about, I don’ want more empty shops on our high streets!” comments Iain.
