  • The Home Farm shop, a new outlet adjacent to the Eagle & Child Pub in Bispham Green, supplies residents with top local food and is already proving popular.

The store is the latest venture by the Ainscough Group, which owns a handful of hotels, pubs and restaurants focusing on British food in the north of England. The produce available on the premises is supplied by the group’s 1,500-acre organic farm in Parbold – only a few miles from the pub – and includes meat and vegetables.

“Customers have always asked us where they can get their hands on the kind of food we serve at the pub so we decided to open our own farm shop and give them the chance to take home a taste of the Eagle & Child and some of the fantastic organic produce we have on our farm,” explains Martin Ainscough at the Ainscough group.

He adds, “There is everything people need for a delicious meal from our top quality organic beef from one of our rare breed herds, to fresh organic vegetables from Geilty’s in Aughton and organic eggs from Staveley’s in Coppul. We also stock a huge range of different Lancashire and other cheeses, homemade cakes and a choice of wine from an extensive list of traditional, organic or biodynamic producers.”

Based in the foodie area of Bispam Green, which boasts several acclaimed restaurants and cafés, the shop is ideally located. And, after a positive start to the business, there are already plans for expansion and a wider range of products including freshly-made breads.
