Free Point Of Sale Packs For All Retailers

22 April 2009, 19:41 PM
  • Discover the Origin and Speciality Food Magazine are looking to dress the nation’s independent retailers with bright and eye-catching branding.

Following on from the success of Discover the Origin’s free masterclasses, led throughout the country by renowned cheese expert, Juliet Harbutt, the Best Display competition has now been launched.

Set yourself apart from superstores by showing off your knowledge and passion for what you do. The ‘Discover the Origin’ Best Masterclass Competition will provide you with the tools to do just that!

You will be provided with a range of colourful materials to dress your shop including recipe cards, flags and posters. You will also be given useful hints and tips and example plans of how to host your own masterclass.

It will run annually for the next three years, in its search for the stores that most successfully educate and inform their customers about the importance of origin, PDO status and Parma Ham and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese – as well as Burgundy wines, Port and Douro Valley wines if licensed.

Win a 10 day gastro tour!
The prize is a fantastic ten-day gastronomic tour of Burgundy in France, the Douro Valley in Portugal and Parma in Italy. This will give the winner the opportunity to see how these products are made in regions rich in history and tradition. Finalists will also be featured in leading food publication, Speciality Food Magazine, along with pictures of their store.

What’s involved?
- Complete an entry form, briefly detailing your current approach to educating customers, as well as setting out your plans to improve on this in order to win the competition and to boost future sales of these products. You may, for example, be hosting tutored tastings and masterclasses for your customers or prefer to focus on products in a more informal way through customer information and guidance. Please register your interest by Saturday 13 June.  As soon as you have done this, you will be given a more full overview of the competition over the phone and you will be sent POS materials and an entry form.  You programme must then be submitted by Friday 31 July.

- Mystery shoppers with significant food experience will then visit finalists to assess their knowledge by judging how well they are providing useful information to customers. Delicatessens will also be assessed on their in-store displays of the products and POS materials.

Reasons to enter:

  • Learn more about the products and their provenance to give you a point of sales difference to entice customers through the door and to stay there.
  •
  • FREE promotional pacts to dress your store including posters, neck tags and shelf barkers
  •
  • The winner will be featured along with their shop in Speciality Food Magazine
  •

Who can enter?

To enter, you must be 18 years or older and be the owner or manager of a delicatessen in the UK.
