  • An artisan bakery specialising in German and Continental breadS and pastries will celebrate its second anniversary next month

K&S Bakery in London will be offering customers a free, Bavarian pretzel with every purchase on 6th August.

The bakery uses organic stone?ground flour to create its range of breads and delicacies.

The selection includes a range of Rye breads, traditional Hanover Butter Cake (German delicacy topped with butter, sugar and almonds) and Minister Stripes (hand?made pastries with caramelised sugar and raisins).

It sources all of its ingredients from local producers.

“So much bread is packed with additives and preservatives these days that bakeries like K&S have become something of a rarity,” says Horst Sander, master baker and confectioner.

“We have reintroduced the traditional convenience store bakery, an institution which holds fond memories for many of us,” he adds.

Mr Sander trained in Hanover for seven years to become a meisterbaecker (master baker) and has since trained a string of young apprentice bakers.
