Plans for £25 Million Jam Factory Approved

The announcement coincides with the report that first quarter trading figures for 2013 are up three percent on last year, according to management figures, and sales from the Tiptree factory exceeded £2.5 million for the first time in March.

The design allows for future growth and new ranges from the Tiptree fruit grower and preserve maker.

Ian Thurgood, joint managing director of Wilkin and Sons Limited, said, “As sales in both UK and export markets continue to grow, news of the planning approval is even more relevant and critical to our business. The enabling development for 244 homes can only happen after we’ve made a start on the new factory so careful financial planning is called for now.”

The new factory building will add around 8,500 square metres of floor space, with the potential to grow bigger. It is expected to take four years to complete the work.
