  • Independent stores, pubs and bars have been offered the chance to take part in a new promotion of premium British pies – with chosen businesses set to receive up to £3000 worth of marketing materials

Producer Pieminister is hitting the road this Autumn with its ‘gravy train’ campaign, visiting cities across the country to promote its selection of speciality pies. Retailers in Brighton, Bournemouth, Cardiff, Manchester, Liverpool and Nottingham have all been invited to join the scheme and help sell the company’s products.

Successful applicants will receive a special ‘gravy train package’ worth thousands of pounds to help them on their way, including equipment and pies plus marketing materials and sales support tailored to meet the individual needs of each business. The company will spend one week in each of the six areas and has various events planned, including driving around the cities in a retro ice cream van.

“It’s a great opportunity for delis and independent shops to benefit from the kind of marketing that the supermarkets enjoy. We will be holding tastings throughout the cities and then saying go and buy then from the stockists involved,” says Tristan Hogg, co-founder of Pieminister.

“We are really happy to give our independent customers this kind of exposure – it’s great for their businesses as a whole and a gives the pies the best possible launch. The campaign will also be coinciding with our new retail range, so they’ll be trail-blazers for pieminister products that have never been sold before,” he adds.

The company has an extensive range of pies, from the traditional (free-range British chicken with field and porcini mushrooms) to the more adventurous (British beef steak with chorizo, sherry and olives) plus several vegetarian options. It’s new selection of mini pies – or ‘PieMINIsters’ – will be launched during the event and are available in three varieties.

For a chance to benefit from this offer, retailers should contact Rachael Armstrong on 0117 950 4567 or rachael@pieminister.co.uk by 31st October 2010.
