  • A North Yorkshire butcher raised almost £300 for charity as part of National Sausage Week, held from 2nd - 7th November

Lishman’s butchers in Ilkley donated 10p for every pound of sausages sold, to the Parkinson’s Disease Society.

“Sausage Week has a big national following, so it’s a great opportunity to attract publicity and raise money for a worthy cause,” said David Lishman, owner.

“Themed weeks like this are great for boosting business. We make sure we always do something special for events such as Game Week and Farmhouse Breakfast Week because customers seem to love them,” he added.

Various price promotions, such as buy two pounds of sausage and get one free, were also offered to promote the event.

Lishman’s specialises in traditional and more unusual pork products, such as chilli and pineapple sausages.

“Our bangers have a bit of a following in the area. We sell about ten tonnes of them every year,” said Mr Lishman.

“The Parkinson’s Disease Society is very important to the team, and we plan on hosting more fund-raising activities for the charity in the new year,” he concluded.

Since the company opened a new store in Skipton last July, business has continued to grow.
