Winners of Global Cheese Awards Announced

The prestigious Global Champion award was won by Glengarry Cheesemaking Inc from Canada, whose Lankaaster Loaf impressed the judges due to its slightly open texture and traditional Dutch design.

A small, family-run cheese maker based near Wincanton has won nine awards for its unpasteurised Cheddar, including the coveted Best Regional Cheese and Supreme Champion Cheese. Diane Keen said,

“We really are chuffed about winning so many awards on Friday. We are only a small family of cheese makers with a limited budget with which to enter shows, this means that to stand up so well against many international entrants and major cheese manufacturers just speaks volumes about the quality of our cheese. It is the real cheddar cheese that your grandmother would have tasted. Sticking with tradition and refusing to sacrifice quality is what served the Keen family so well at the Global Cheese Awards last week.”
