5 minutes with Rachel Kettlewell, Fearne & Rosie

What would you be doing if you weren’t in the food industry?

I’m a primary school teacher. So you would find me in a classroom laughing with 30+ little ones. My favourite class to teach is Y6… closely followed by Y4.

What was your first job?

I worked in a health food shop after school. My job was to weigh the larger bags into smaller quantities for customers.

What inspires you?

My children. Fearne, Rosie and George.

What’s the worst job you’ve done?

I think I’ve loved all my jobs actually. But generally, it’s probably any time that I’ve had to sound really professional… I’m more about the fun!

What’s your favourite part of the job?

Hearing customer feedback. When people send me messages or photos of their little ones enjoying our products, that’s what it’s all about.

And your least favourite?

The most challenging part is balancing my time as a mum whilst also building a business I am passionate about. That’s also one of the things that makes Fearne and Rosie so special.

How about the food industry?

I think moving forward in the food industry, I’d love to see the celebration of local produce. The growth of ethical supply chains and businesses working together to make the world a better place. That’s what we’re trying to do here at Fearne and Rosie.

Tea or coffee?

I have three children, so coffee please!

What would be your last supper?

It would have to be Fearne and Rosie Reduced Sugar Strawberry Jam on toast.

What’s your motto?

Yes you can!

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?

I’d say peanut butter and jam, but that’s quite cool these days isn’t it?

What’s your favourite book?

I like really easy reads. Nothing scary, I can’t cope. Books like PS I Love You, The Notebook and anything by Giovanna Fletcher.

Sweet or savoury?

Always sweet!
