  • The leading Spanish trade show, taking place 18th–24th March 2024 at Fira Barcelona, has renewed its alliance with the Spanish Federation for the Food & Drink Industries (FIAB) in order to level up promotion of the innovation, sustainability and internationalism of the sector
Alimentaria and FIAB join forces for 2024 event

The continuation of the partnership between Alimentaria, the leading international food industry event and FIAB, the representative of food and drink businesses across Spain, will see the launch of initiatives that highlight the sector’s constant innovation, the opportunities in new markets and exports, and its commitment to sustainability.

FIAB consists of 45 associations and represents Spain’s growing food industry – the leading industrial sector in the country – which employs around 450,000 people directly and an additional 2,500,000 indirectly across over 30,000 companies. Production within the sector during 2022 has been valued at more 144 billion euros, and over 41 billion euros in exports.

The most recent edition of Alimentaria, in April 2022, played host to nearly 3,000 exhibiting companies and over 100,000 visitors. 29% of the exhibitors were international, while nearly a quarter of the visitors (23%) were from 150 different countries beyond Spain.

Mauricio García de Quevedo, general manager of FIAB, said, “Alimentaria is a can’t-miss event for Spanish industries, a global showcase where we can promote the internationalisation of our companies and products, foster and share innovation and advance the sustainability of the industry.”
