Lancashire-based cheesemaker embraces the kefir trend

Kefir Cheddar is expertly crafted using live kefir cultures and local milk and has a mild, yogurt-like flavour. Already an award-winner, the cheese scooped a silver medal at the 2019 International Cheese Awards.

Jak Blanthorn, UK account manager at Singletons & Co said, “The kefir industry is growing rapidly. According to Kantar Worldpanel data, in the year July 2018 – 2019, the average UK spend on kefir products rose by 338.9 percent, with volume increasing 374.5 per cent.

“The industry itself is worth a staggering £17.8 million and the data suggests that the buyer profile ties in with high end, quality retailers, farm shops and delis. The launch is the culmination of two years’ work, with the new product development team leading the way on recipe to create a product which satisfies growing interest in gut-friendly products while delivering on taste, quality and versatility.”
