Online hub launched to support SMEs

Online food and drink site BigBarn has developed a new online system to help connect small business owners with customers. With many shoppers turning to local retailers for essentials, this new online hub aims to assist retailers with high volumes of orders. The software allows shops to set up online ordering with their delivery areas and to limit purchases according to stock levels.

BigBarn founder, Anthony Davison says that the system aims to support local businesses inundated with orders and allow them to get services up and running as quickly as possible. He says, “It’s interesting how lockdown is changing people’s shopping habits. We hope that by the time ’normality’ returns people will want to continue with their local online ordering and support small, local businesses and British producers. This would be a great benefit to take from this whole experience.”

He adds, “We are also hoping that local deliveries can also pick up home-grown or homemade produce from customers to be redistributed to other local customers. This could get to such a scale that people might prefer their new local food community delivery than the old supermarket shop.”
