  • As reported on Independent Retail News, retailers are being given an opportunity to gain an industry qualification to help them climb the career ladder and improve their business.

RetailPlus has been launched to support retailers in developing employee skills and as a result increase their business potential within the retail sector.

The qualifications are nationally recognised and programmes are available for all levels of staff including retail skills, customer service, food safety and team leading.

There are also qualifications specific to alcohol and news and magazine management. The courses are delivered in the workplace and include NVQs and apprenticeship programmes.

Kevin Maxfield, managing director of RetailPlus, said, “Lack of training is one of the factors in the decline of the local convenience store.

“RetailPlus delivers qualifications which are aimed at increasing skills across the sector, upskilling personnel, improving productivity, increasing sales and developing sustainable retail business.”
