The proposed alterations have the additional benefit of providing direct access from behind the counter and into the dairy, where cheesemakers Dudley and Paul produce seven cheeses, as well as butter and yoghurt.

Edward Berry, managing director said, “Our cheese counter has always run across the back wall of the store. However, the dairy is located as you walk into the building on the left. Once the new counter opens, it will enable much more interaction between Dudley, staff on the counter and, of course, our customers. Dudley’s expertise and extensive knowledge can be readily shared with the public, which will be a real bonus.

There has always been window into each of our eight production units so that visitors can see the teams in action. Our recent experience of opening up the bakery has spurred us on to implement these additional changes. Now that Hazel and our bakers are more accessible, there is so much for people to see in terms of the sights, sounds and smells of scratch baked bread, cakes and cookies being produced. The overall experience has really improved and the dairy team will soon have the same advantage.”
