  • A host of famous faces are set to showcase their culinary talents at the UK’s largest food and drink trade event this year.

Chefs including Something for The Weekend’s Simon Rimmer, TV stars Steve Love and Sophie Wright and current National Chef of the Year Hrishikesh Desai, will all be hosting cookery demonstrations at The Skillery, which takes place on the IFE show floor at London’s ExCeL centre on 13th – 16th March this year.

Martin Bates, CEO of the Craft Guild of Chefs, who put together the programme on behalf of IFE11, was enthusiastic about the line-up this year: “We’re proud to once again be involved in such a top class event. We will be mixing education with entertainment and really turning the heat up in the kitchen.”

Other industry personalities set to wow the crowds with their skills include the British BBQ Team, comprising of Ben Bartlett and Matt Shropshall, leading airline chef Steve Walpole – famous for putting locally-sourced British food on the airline menu – and Sudha Shankar Saha, one of the chefs who pitted their wits in Channel 4’s Iron Chef UK competition.

Coeliac Chef of the Year 2010 Shanice Pariss will also be joined by Dez Turland, Group Development Chef at Brend Hotels, Jose L Souto Lecturer in Culinary Arts at Westminster Kingsway College and Jean-Philippe Bidart, head chef The Millbrook Inn in South Pool, Devon. Matt Owens and Mark Rigby, founders of the Food Appreciation Workshop, which introduces healthy food to parents and children through schools, will be discussing this initiative whilst Michael Godfrey and the UK World Skills Team will also be presenting at The Skillery.

Christopher McCuin, IFE Event Director concluded: “This year’s Skillery programme is one of the most high-profile to-date. We have a great line-up of well known chefs who will be able to both demonstrate the very latest trends in the industry, that could help our visitors from the foodservice community add a unique point of difference to their business. “
