Farm Shop Is ‘thinking Pink’ For Charity

  • A family-run Staffordshire retailer will be raising awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness month by hosting a pink party this Saturday, October 16th

Between 10am and 3pm, Packington Moor Farm shop in Lichfield will be adorned in pink in a bid to raise hundreds of pounds in aid of the cancer charity.  Food items such as bread, pickles, cheese and meat will be decorated with pink wrappers or stickers, while other items, including pink cakes and pink lemonade, will be added to the list of sales items.

The event coincides with the fledgling farm shop’s first birthday and is intended to be a celebration as well as a charity campaign. “Many of us at the shop have been touched by breast cancer, so when Gay Cox – a friend of the family – approached us with the idea of hosting an event, we jumped at the chance,” says Rosemary Barns, a partner in the farm shop.

“The store launched almost a year ago, so we’ve also used it as an opportunity to celebrate our first year of business. We’ll be highlighting some of our existing pink-coloured products, including Luscombe’s Cranberry Crush charity drink, and have also ordered-in a few special items for the day,” she continues.

Event organiser Gay Cox, a former nurse, has been raising money on behalf of Breakthrough Breast Cancer since she was diagnosed with breast cancer 14 years ago. Now in remission, Mrs Cox has already raised over £10,000 for the charity. She will be wearing a pink t-shirt on the day, along with staff at the farm shop. “I hope that lots of people come along to our pink party and help such a wonderful cause,” adds Mrs Cox.
