Imran Sherwani, a member of Great Britain’s 1988 gold medal-winning hockey team, visited Denstone Hall Farm Shop and Café to launch its local produce sticker scheme.

The stickers help customers identify the items produced in Staffordshire and Derbyshire and encourage them to reduce food miles.

Emma Evans, owner of the farm shop, said, “Britain’s Olympic athletes represent the very best of the country and we are grateful that Imran has helped us launch our local produce campaign because we believe the products we source locally also deserve to be at the top of the podium.

“Many of our customers want to buy local products, but we are finding that many of the independent retailers we stock are producing such well-packaged and professional looking items that it can be difficult to distinguish between the local products and the bigger corporations.

“We hope that by identifying which products are made locally, our local suppliers will all benefit, We have always been passionate about good food and nothing beats putting our customers in touch with quality produce that is created just a few miles away, that they might not otherwise have discovered,” she added.
