  • According to new research, retailers can cash in on organic milk as sales have continued to increase over the last year.

The Organic Milk Suppliers Cooperative released its Organic Milk Market Report, which showed expected growth of 20% for the year to March 2007.

The report highlights that supply and demand are still the key challenges to the industry, but 85 million litres of new organic milk is hoped to be available during 2008.

Price hikes have also resulted in improved farmer confidence, which has led to an increase in UK supply. However, Richard Hampton, OMSCO’s sales and marketing director, said, “In the year ahead market growth will continue to be supply constrained.

“This will have a particular impact on new market sectors who will find it difficult to secure their organic milk requirements.”
