Dorset Cheese Retailer Wins Award

The Town Mill Cheesemonger was awarded the title at the fifth Taste of Dorset Awards, adding to the shop’s titles of Best New Cheese Retailer 2009 and winning gold at the Taste of the West 2011 awards.

Justin Tunstall, who owns the Town Mill Cheesemonger, said, “It’s an honour to get this award. Dorset is a fantastic county for food producers and retailers alike, and the other shortlisted shops are both superb operations. Even more encouraging was how many of our West Dorset neighbours and suppliers were shortlisted and also recipients of awards. Furleigh Estates of Salwayash won Best Dorset Drink and The Hive in Burton Bradstock scooped Dorset’s Best Café.

“The awards, organised by Blackmore Vale Magazine, are a real celebration of the quality of food across the entire county. Food is a vital part of Dorset’s economy and a very real attraction for tourists. The visitors who come to the Town Mill tell us that most of the country lacks decent independent stores offering real variety and customer service. Long may the food culture of Dorset continue to surpass the rest,” he added.
