Championing local food heroes: Regional Stars returns for 2027

Regional Stars returns for 2027 to celebrate the independent producers whose products tell a story about where they come from – through local ingredients, traditional skills or distinctive production methods.

From established family businesses to innovative newcomers, the initiative will recognise small-scale producers combining quality and craftsmanship with a passion for provenance.

Selected producers will feature in the January 2027 issue of Speciality Food and be showcased at Speciality & Fine Food Fair, taking place 5th-7th April 2027.

For independent retailers, Regional Stars is an opportunity to champion suppliers bringing something distinctive to their shelves. Delis, farm shops, food halls, wholesalers and others across the trade are encouraged to nominate producers they believe deserve wider recognition. Producers are also welcome to nominate their own business.

Nicola Woods, event manager at Speciality & Fine Food Fair, said, “We’re delighted to be continuing our partnership with Speciality Food to recognise and celebrate outstanding regional speciality producers across the UK. We’re on the hunt for even more world-class British producers with a passion for provenance, and we can’t wait to read this year’s entries.”

Holly Shackleton, editor of Speciality Food, said, “Independent retailers are often the first to discover exceptional local producers and introduce their products to a wider audience. Regional Stars gives them a chance to champion those businesses and share the stories on their shelves. We’re looking for producers whose food and drink offers a real sense of place and gives retailers something special to talk about with their customers.”

To be considered, businesses should have an average annual turnover of less than £1 million and produce food or drink with a genuine regional connection, whether through ingredients, heritage or production methods. They should also demonstrate a commitment to quality, craftsmanship and provenance.

Help us celebrate Britain’s finest regional food and drink. Nominate a producer you admire or enter your own business for Regional Stars 2027.

Nominations close on 31st October 2026.
