  • Stag Bakeries has launched a new seaweed range of biscuits and crackers that includes Stag’s signature Water Biscuit with Hebridean Seaweed, a seaweed oatcake and seaweed shortbread
An Award-Winning Taste of the Sea

The new range was launched in July after the bakery set out to create a range with provenance and, because of their location on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, it naturally had to incorporate a taste of the sea.

Made using a blend of red, green and brown seaweed that is sustainably sourced from the isle’s sea lochs and the Atlantic Ocean and also includes a sprinkling of Hebridean sea salt. The hand-baked range is natural and does not contain any artificial additives or preservatives. The Stornoway water biscuit with Hebridean seaweed was a Top 50 food, won Best Scottish Speciality Product and also the Nigel Barden Heritage Award at this year’s Great Taste Awards. It works well with many accompaniments and provides the perfect foil for a selection of cheeses.

Being a Scottish bakery, the water biscuits have also been tested by whisky experts who have confirmed they complement a ‘dram’ of peaty malts and also sweeter Highland and Speyside whiskies The Stag Bakeries range is available from independent retail stores, cheesemongers, farm shops and delicatessens. The Seaweed Water Biscuit is priced at £2.39 for a 125g pack.  www.stagbakeries.co.uk
