- Staffordshire-based Cottage Delight is to sponsor the Best Blue Cheese Award for 2013 at the British Cheese Awards
The founder of the company, Nigel Cope, recently acquired The Staffordshire Cheese Company, in Cheddleton, spurring on his strong interest in British cheesemaking.
Mr Cope said, “I’m always keen to invest in other local producers, especially when they have such a strong heritage, and I’m delighted with the progress we have made in such a short space of time. The team at the dairy has been busy reviving the authentic 13th century, original recipe and traditional cheesemaking methods from the area, and we are at a really exciting stage in the company’s history.
“Since my involvement with the Staffordshire Cheese Company, I have developed a much wider understanding of the unpredictability involved in the production of blue cheeses, which often defies even the most experienced producers and so it will be a real honour and a privilege to be part of the Best Blue Cheese Award 2013 celebrations.”
