Farm Shop Clears Up at Yorkshire Competition

Bolster Moor Farm Shop, in Golcar, won supreme champion in the pork pie and sausage categories and also won reserve supreme champion for its pork pie.

It is only the second time the shop has entered the awards, and the farm shop has only been running for three years.

Simon Haigh, co-owner of the shop, said, “In the 24 years that the Great Yorkshire Pork Pie, Sausage and Products Competition has run I don’t know if anyone has won both best pie and sausage, so we’re quite possibly the best in Yorkshire.

“But we don’t get complacent. We put a lot of hard work into this. It’s a team effort. We all got up at 3am to bake before the competition and make sure everything was perfect. We use the same stuff in the pies and sausages we sell in the shop as we do in the competitions. We stand for quality that’s all home-produced,” he added.
