Limited Spaces Remaining at Welsh Food Conference

Taking place in the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport on 23rd March, the conference is set to run with the theme ‘Winning with Wales’.

It forms part of the inaugural BlasCymru/TasteWales, the nation’s first-ever food and drink event that’s aimed at both the UK and world market. The line-up includes industry experts, business professionals and international stakeholders who will be analysing topics important to the Welsh food industry, including foreign direct investment and current market trends.

There will also be a whole day of sessions aimed at retailers, which is hosted by Kantar Worldpanel.

The BBC’s Sara Edwards will be chairing the conference and will be joined by Giles Quick from Kantar, Adam Leyland of The Grocer and John Rodger of US food importer Atalanta Corporation.

Also speaking at the event will be Andy Richardson, chair of the Food and Drink Wales Industry Board, Lesley Griffiths, cabinet secretary for Environment and Rural Affairs and Alana Spencer, Apprentice winner and owner of Wales-based food company Ridiculously Rich.

Giles Quick, director of usage at Kantar Worldpanel said, “At BlasCymru/TasteWales I will summarise the main consumer trends and drivers in food and drink, and set out that to win in Wales and for Wales to win in the UK and beyond, the consumer needs to come first. Much of my recent work at Kantar Worldpanel has focussed on health, obesity and nutrition and includes working with the FSA and FDF looking at the nutritional composition of UK shopping baskets. I will bring this and my more than 25 years of experience in food and drink research to bear in this important discussion.”

Those with an interest in Welsh food and drink are being urged to reserve a space as soon as possible, which can be done by visiting tastewales.com.
