7 of the best farm shops in Cambridgeshire

Home to the stunning architectural feats of the University of Cambridge and Ely Cathedral, as well as nature-rich spaces, from the Fens to picturesque countryside manors, Cambridgeshire enjoys the best of both man-made and natural beauties.

Also bridging these two worlds are the county’s farm shops, which are packed with abundant produce and pantry staples from regional makers using traditional artisan methods. Stop in any of the farm shops on this list and you’ll find food and drink to delight the senses and connect you with the people and landscape of Cambridgeshire.

Frank’s Farm Shop

Location: Elsworth

Shop hours: Weds-Sat, 9am-4pm; Sun 10am-3pm

“The most special thing about our farm shop is the place it calls home,” says Louise of Frank’s Farm Shop. Located within Frank’s Farm, a community of small, independent makers, the shop has access to a brilliant selection of products from East Anglia’s larder.

“As well as stocking local products from across Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, and Suffolk, you’ll also discover products made right here on the farm,” Louise says. “Including handmade ice cream crafted by The Sundae Service, or beautifully boxed chocolates created on site by Flourish Bakes. Our own fields and polytunnel provide a seasonal harvest of fresh vegetables, picked fresh every day. Right now, you’ll find an abundance of new potatoes, crisp cucumbers, courgettes, sweetcorn and tomatoes straight from the vine.”

While the shop’s focus is on celebrating these local products, there’s also a handpicked selection of delicious treats from further afield, like Wessex flour and Northern pasta.

The best-selling products, however, are the ones made fresh right on the farm. “From our golden, flaky sausage rolls and traditional pork pies to seasonal quiches and savoury pies, each one is made in our on-site kitchen using meat from our butchers and seasonal vegetables grown in our own fields,” Louise explains.

“Our carefully curated selection of British cheeses is another firm favourite with customers. We champion exceptional regional producers, with some of our most local cheeses coming from St Ives and Bedford. If you are passing by, please stop in and try our staff favourite, Cheesemakers Special, this wonderful hard cheese is made in East Sussex, it packs a punch and leaves a tantalising after taste with salt crystals throughout.”

Willow Grange Farm Shop

Location: Chittering

Shop hours: Tues-Sun, 9am-4pm

The small, family-run business of Willow Grange Farm is not only a working farm focusing on traditional Hereford cows and rare breed livestock, as well as a farm shop, but it is also a cafe, accommodation, weddings and events business. It was the great, great grandfather of Clara, who wears many hats juggling the farm’s ventures today, who first bought the farm in 1927.

Although the farm shop and cafe only opened in 2024, they have made an impact in the local area, having won Farm Shop/Deli of the year in the area’s 2026 Velvet Food & Drink Awards.

The judges said the shop showed a “strong understanding of what today’s customers are looking for”, from a spotlessly clean and well-merchandised shop floor to a high-quality product range and a well-trained, knowledgeable team.

As well as selling their own organically produced traditional Hereford beef, they have a well-stocked larder of condiments and pantry staples, plus a deli bursting with brilliant cheeses. Some of the local brands they highlight are Nikki’s Homemade Preserves (based just down the road), Pooch’s handcrafted dog treats, and WhataHoot, which offers a range of locally inspired gins and vodkas.

The Gog Farm Shop

Location: Heath Farm, Shelford Bottom

Shop hours: Mon-Thurs, 9am-5pm; Fri-Sat, 9am-6pm; Sun, 10am-4pm

The Gog Farm Shop is built around the idea that ‘food has the power to connect generations’. To fulfil this ideal, the shop is stocked with hand-picked produce, from pantry staples to artisan cheeses and charcuterie. With an offering built around shared mealtimes, quality meat is also a big selling point. The shop’s master butchers source and prepare the finest cuts of meat.

In addition to the shop, The Gog offers quality food at The Shack Cafe. The cafe’s seasonal menu, which covers breakfast, brunch and lunch, is crafted from award-winning products made on site as well as from local suppliers – all of which you can find in the shop itself. With events and food trucks celebrating the local area, it offers a destination for the local community.

Johnsons Farm Shop

Location: Old Hurst, Huntingdon

Shop hours: Tues-Fri, 9am-6pm; Sat 9am-4pm; Sun 10am-4pm

Best known for its traditional butchery, Johnsons Farm Shop sells a range of gourmet cheeses, deli favourites and fresh, seasonal produce. The farm, which began as a dairy farm, is rooted in local traditions, run by its fourth generation of family farmers.

Today, the site also holds a zoo, tea room and steakhouse, making it a unique example of a destination shop. The family behind Johnsons of Old Hurst aims to offer people of all ages and backgrounds a chance to engage with animals and livestock in order to further their mission of sustainability, education and conservation.

The experienced butchery team guarantees freshness and traceability, with more than 80% of meat coming directly from the farm, such as beef, pork, lamb, venison and poultry, and including a whopping 35 different sausage flavours. They also offer a selection of home-reared ostrich game and exotic meats, subject to availability.

In addition to freshly baked breads; a selection of jams, chutneys and other pantry must-haves; and children’s toys and gifts, the shop also has its own range of gins and vodkas made by Johnsons Spirit Company and styled as ‘the only gins and vodkas which have had a crocodile swim in every bottle’. It’s certainly a first for the Speciality Food team!

Burwash Larder

Location: Burwash Manor, Barton

Shop hours: Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm; Sat 9am-5pm; Sun 10am-5pm

Located just outside Cambridge in the grounds of Burwash Manor, Burwash Larder is a deli and farm shop that aims to bring customers brilliant local and artisan products. The shop is owned by Michael Radford, whose family has been living in and running the show at Burwash Manor for generations.

The working, organic farm, which operates 400 acres of mixed arable and livestock, is currently run by the fourth and fifth generations. The shop, meanwhile, dates back more than three decades to a roadside ‘honesty box’ where extra supplies of asparagus and sweetcorn were once sold.

Always popular are fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as the shop’s range of 70 artisan cheeses. The deli counter is stocked up with locally sourced meats from Leech & Sons Butchers. They also have a cake counter and lunch counter with an ever-changing array of tempting sweet and savoury treats, and a team of foodies on hand to answer any questions.

The Bushel Box Farm Shop

Location: Willingham

Shop hours: Tues-Sat, 10am-6pm; Sun 10am-3pm

This one’s for the fruit lovers! The Bushel Box Farm Shop is set on a traditional working fruit farm, family-run for around 100 years. The shop was established from a converted farm shed in 2011 to showcase the huge variety of fruits grown on site.

Customers who visit will have the joy of sampling the farm’s many varieties of plums, apples and pears, all of which are grown on the farm and harvested by a small team, meaning they travel no more than a mile from tree to shelf. You’ll likely come across varieties you’ve never heard of, so it’s the perfect place to discover new favourites. In addition to these, they sell homegrown asparagus and apricots.

Being open year-round, the shop also stocks locally sourced vegetables, eggs, bread, preserves and more, in addition to British cheeses and charcuterie. With most produce sourced from within 20 miles of the shop, it supports a wide range of small, independent local businesses.
